WW is pleased to introduce work by its second Artist-in-residence, Jessica Herrington, who created new works at WW from 3 Jan - 3 March 2011, culminating in an exhibition 3-6th March 2011.Herrington's work focuses on ideas of preciousness, value and excess, primarily through sculpture and installation. The evolution of her latest body of work 'Cave' was exhibited at the end of 2010 at Canberra Contemporary Art Space, (read a review by Yolande Norris, Useless Lines) and an essay 'Unstable Stuff' by Liang Xia Luscombe was written to accompany the show.
During her residency at WW Gallery, Herrington built upon similar themes and constructed a new cave within our project space, together with small-scale sculptures, ceramics and drawings.
A catalogue was published by WW Gallery on the occasion of the residency and exhibition, and a video by TJ Phillipson records moments from the residency and images of both the London & Canberra installations of the Cave.
Jessica Herrington (b 1985, Sydney, Australia) is an installation artist who has exhibited widely throughout Australia. She has received a number of prizes and awards, and was recently a Visiting Fellow at the Research School of Chemistry, Australian National University. CAVE is her first UK solo show.
