Anita Makris Sea Blue

Anita Makris Transit, film still

Anita Makris was born in Thessalonica, Greece. She studied at film school in Vienna, has lived and worked in London and is now based in St. Leonards-on-sea, Hastings.

An award-winning filmmaker, she started using photography when she moved to the seaside two years ago. "I was taking photos of locations and lighting for film shoots, but then these images took on a life and existence of their own."  Like her ethereal Sea Blue, the works are dense film stills, intensely chromatic and largely about the sea, the current backdrop to her life and work.

WW is also showing her powerful short film Transit, an atmospheric journey between real and emotional worlds. DVDs of Transit are available from WW.
